Christmas
Songs
Music is a huge part of the Christmas
season, and there are many Christmas songs that are sung or
played traditionally each year. Carolers still go from door to
door in many areas of the world treating home owners to both
beautiful spiritual hymns and more amusing secular songs. Some
of this music is centuries old, while others are newer, having
been written to add to the flavor of the holidays.
Older hymns include Silent Night written by
Franz Gruber, Away in a Manger by Martin Luther, Oh Come All Ye
Faithful by John Reading, and many other religious Christmas
songs. These are among the songs you will hear or sing each
year at Christmas services or gatherings. Even people who do
not attend religious services are going to be familiar with
these Christmas hymns, joyfully proclaiming and celebrating the
birth of Jesus.
There are other holiday songs that are sung
every year, too. These are the more entertaining ones such as
The Twelve Days of Christmas, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, I
Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, and Frosty the Snowman. Children
of all ages enjoy singing these songs each year. The funny
Christmas songs are always going to be popular with everyone at
holiday parties.
Lyrics and music to all of these songs can
be found in just about any church or music store in existence.
They can also be found on the internet. For songs not found in
hymnbooks, a quick visit to some internet sites offering lyrics
to Christmas music can solve the problem of how to supply
lyrics. By pulling up the song you need, you can simply print
out as many copies as you need. Then everyone at your gathering
or party will be able to sing all of the Christmas songs.
While nearly everyone will know at least the
first verse to most of the more well known holiday songs, many
do not know the verses past that. Printed lyrics will be a huge
help if you are planning to organize a caroling party. You can
even make up little booklets of the words to these songs.
Everyone can be given one of these booklets and will be able to
sing as many verses as people want to hear.
There are still other Christmas songs that don’t fall into
either category. These would be songs such as Silver Bells, Let
It Snow, and White Christmas. While these are very popular Yule
songs, they were written especially for seasonal plays or
movies and simply carried over into the genre of holiday
music.
You can see that there is Christmas music to
suit any age or taste. It doesn’t matter if you can sing, or if
you happen to be completely tone deaf. No one should be
embarrassed to sing their hearts out during this very musical
season.
